February 7, 2010 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President Janet Mohr.  She introduced New Members and guests.  Cards were sent to Alice Monin and Chris Mucha who have had surgery or been ill.  The February Birthday celebrants were asked to stand and were serenaded with Happy Birthday.  Janet talked about the roster-it will not be printed until the March meeting as those who do not rejoin will be removed and also it will be posted online so that members can print it themselves.

Claudia Lancaster told members about Magnetic Name Tags that can be ordered.  This will be continued as an ongoing process.

Janet announced that Marilyn Clark has resigned as Web Administrator.  Marilyn was present and thanked for the hard work and dedication having served over two years.  Marie Minns will take over this duty.

The secretary, Elaine Yielding, called for a motion to approve the January minutes as posted on the web site.  There was a motion and it was seconded.  Minutes approved as posted.

Treasurer, Mollie McErlean gave the treasurer’s report.  The club started with a balance of $478.88 in January and after the collection of dues and bills paid, there is a current balance of $1396.47.

Janet then talked for a moment about cancellations and no shows and how it inconveniences the person who has worked hard to arrange an activity.  She reminded us to be courteous and call and cancel in a timely manner so someone else might be able to go in our place.

Janet then called Marie Marlier, Activities Chairperson to talk about upcoming events.  Marie asked Janet about the amount to pay volunteer drivers and Janet said that the Activities Committee should set that amount.  Marie thanked Sheri Switzer for her work in arranging the monthly dinners and the billiards activity.  Marie said that a member of the committee will each take a month and plan the dinner after the meeting.

Marie had Estelle Pilon come up and talk about the fun they had at the Movie Night at Chuck McErlean’s house.  They both encouraged members to sign up for a fun night.  Marie talked about the billiards event at the Club House Grill.  She said there are also games outside to play as well, not only billiards.  The food was good and those who went last month had a good time.  The Turf Paradise, event was also mentioned.  Payment due 2/11.

Marie also mentioned that Rosemary DeAngelo has planned the Easter Brunch for Luke AFB.

Marie announced that from March on the $5.00 for Game Night will be given or sent to Mollie McErlean.  The amount collected in January was sent to Feed the Children in Haiti.  From now on the extra amount from Game Night will be contributed to Agua Fria Food Bank.  Bonnie mentioned that if you signed up for a particular game and there were not enough players she would call you and have you choose another game or you could get a refund in that case if you did not want to play another game.  Phase Ten has been added to the list of games.  Other activities were briefly mentioned such as Hockey, Cinco de Mayo, and a Wine Tasting in April.  This will be at Bev Graham’s home.  Marie also mentioned that Sheri Switzer will be in the Tuesday PebbleCreek Idol and asked for members to support her.  Kristi Littlefield said she would go early and save a table for the Singles to sit together.

The meeting was adjourned to Birthday cake and Super Bowl celebrations.
